Company Interviews: Nate Bitton as Antonio
We asked Nate Bitton, who plays Antonio in our production of Twelfth Night, a few questions about himself, the play, and his character...
Have you ever written or received a love letter?
I’ve definitely written a few in my time. Usually they were cheesy attempts to be poetic and funny and are probably pretty embarrassing. I was also big into mix CD’s, I could put together a pretty solid romantic playlist if I do say so myself.
Who do people say is your celebrity twin?
James Van Der Beek. I get it a lot, especially with shorter hair.
What might an audience member be interested to know about your take on your character?
I don’t want to give much away. I would be more interested in talking with people after the show to see what they pick out. With Antonio and Sebastian specifically it tends to be a very different interpretation with every production. I am very pleased with the relationship Jeff and I are creating with James’ guidance.
What are you most looking forward to about this production?
Watching all the parts come together. There are amazing performances being put out there by the entire cast guided by an awesomely talented director and associate director and I can’t wait to see how the audience receives it. There is original music, singing, sword fighting, and lots and lots of laugh! Once we add all the fantastic design elements I think this show is really going to be something special.
What are you going to drink to celebrate opening night at the Monarch Tavern?
Beer. And then likely another beer. As for the type, I always like to see what new stuff Monarch has on tap.
