Company Interviews: Christopher Brackett, Stage Manager
We asked Christopher Brackett, the stage manager for our production of Othello, a few questions about himself, his travel preferences, and his fave pre-show job...
What neighbourhood of Toronto do you live in?
Corktown: its best feature is Jenn Dzialoszynski. She’s a great neighbour and an even greater Emilia!
Shakespeare BASH'd is known for their love of karaoke. What's your go-to karaoke song?
This is a loaded question. Most commonly, ‘Paradise by the Dashboard Light’ by Meatloaf – it’s a classic.
Othello takes place on the island of Cyprus. What's your dream sunny vacation spot?
This is tough! I travel a lot for work and have been fortunate enough to spend a decent amount of time in both the Carribean and South America. Because of this, I’d much rather go to Portland where “the rain it raineth every day.”
What is your post-show drink of choice?
Simple: a stiff gin and soda, or a hoppy, hoppy IPA.
What have you done with Shakespeare BASH'd before?
I had the pleasure of joining the Company last season for Richard III. I find the work BASH’d creates incredibly refreshing, focused and accessible.
Coffee or Tea?
Coffee. Specifically, a doppio long espresso over ice in a grande cup with a splash of soy and topped with a dash of cinnamon or a quad espresso in a short cup…it depends on the day.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
The pre-show mop. Don’t miss it!
