Company Interviews: Hilary Adams as Snug / Hippolyta / Fairy
We asked Hilary Adams, who plays Snug, Hippolyta, Fairy and is the Music Composer and Director in our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, a few questions about herself, the production, and working with BASH'd...
What might people be interested to know about your take on your characters?
It has been a very interesting experience trying to not impose too much onto the text to make it different for the sake of being different. I have seen this play and read this play so many times that there has been a lot of overthinking on my part....but it has been incredible to have James and Catherine there every step of the way. They are so open, thought provoking and provide such a safe environment to create, which I know will come across in the final product.
If you were transformed into an animal, what would it be?
Something aquatic, I think I would make a great whale.
Who is your favourite pop-culture fairy?
Crysta; FernGully, saving the forests in Ontario.
If you could have one magical power what would it be?
To breathe underwater DUH
What is your post-show drink of choice?
IPA, please bartender.
What is your history with Shakespeare BASH'd?
I worked as Co-Composer on As You Like It last winter with Kaleb Horn and played Wilma and it was awesome. I have loved watching Shakespeare BASH'd shows for years and am so excited to be back this fall. I really admire what the company brings out in actors and the collective product is always so moving. Every show they do is so different and unique but I am so excited to work closely with James and Catherine this time around, they compliment each other really well.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
I really love the casting in this production - I cannot wait for people to see Julia's Bottom she is so lovely and different from all other production I've seen and I just think it is hilarious.
