We asked Catherine Rainville, one of our Co-Directors for A Midsummer Night's Dream, a few questions about herself, the production, and her theatrical flops...
Picture
What might people be interested to know about your role in this production?
Co-director is a very interesting character to play. My biggest discovery has been leaving things open so everyone can bring more of themselves to the show. It's important to me that what makes this production so special is all the unique history each person brings to their work, and I think it's working!

If you were transformed into an animal, what would it be?
A bull with a unicorn mane. It's my astrological sign and I am very, very stubborn.

Who is your favourite pop-culture fairy?
Not really a fairy but Lyra's dæmon, Pantalaimon from His Dark Materials

If you could have one magical power what would it be?
Like Tonks in Harry Potter. Change my hair whenever, wherever I want!

What is your post-show drink of choice?

Double bourbon neat. And a beer.

Have you ever been in a play that was a flop?
OHHHH YES. A reviewer called my performance "dull." I don't think she was wrong.

What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
This show is weird and wild and wonderful. It's really special to me and I truly believe everyone brings their own unique qualities to the work. It's a little dip into the dream land. Stay to the end for the play within the play. It makes my face hurt from laughing.
