Company Interviews:
Justin Mullen as Lysander / Cobweb
We asked Justin Mullen, who plays Lysander and Cobweb in our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, a few questions about himself, his character, and what to look out for in this production...

What might people be interested to know about your take on your character?
Lysander is an absolute firecracker and a real hasty boy, but that is what I’ve found draws him to Hermia. Her intelligence, patience, and kind heart levels him out.
What’s the best line in the play?
“I kiss the wall’s hole, and not your lips at all.”
Who is your favourite pop-culture fairy?
It might be a bit of a stretch, but the Hormone monsters from Big Mouth. They are invisible (like Midsummer fairies), they have incredible, albeit odd, magical powers, and influence the mortal world. Lawyered.
If you could have one magical power what would it be?
I would love to fly...massive TTC and Uber savings to be reaped.
What is your post-show drink of choice?
Citrusy IPA. Quench the thirst, loads of flavour.
What is your history with Shakespeare BASH'd?
Last season I had the pleasure of playing Orlando in As You Like It, directed by BASH’d Resident artist Drew O’Hara. This time around, we’re under the co-direction of the two wonderful minds, Catherine Rainville and James Wallis, and it has been a blast. They both bring their unique love of Shakespeare as well as ideas about the play, and they merge their visions so well because of the immense amount of respect they have for each other as well as each and every single member involved in the production. It’s a gift to be in this rehearsal room.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
The play within the play. You are not prepared.
