Company Interviews:
Mussié Solomon as Demetrius / Mustardseed
We asked Mussié Solomon, who plays Demetrius and Mustardseed in our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, a few questions about himself, his character, and magic...
If you were transformed into an animal, what would it be?
I always feel like my cat has something he wants to say to me, and I would like to give him that opportunity, so I’ll go with a cat.
What’s the best line in the play?
“Dead? DEAD?!”
If your character were at the Monarch Tavern, what drink would they order?
I think Demetrius pretends to be way more confident than he really is and I feel like he fakes it with a scotch neat in hand.
What has been a discovery for you in the process?
The reminder that there is nothing more boring than perfection. James said that to us during the early process and it really stuck with me.
If you could have one magical power what would it be?
Teleportation. It’s been 10 years since I’ve left home, my Eritrea, and I am ready to be back y’all. I just want to poof and visit here and there you know and visit old neighbourhoods as well. It would be a good time.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
The monologue “These are the forgeries of jealousy” Zara as Titania delivers to Oberon is freaking amazing. Everyone is in for a treat.
