We asked James Wallis, the director for our production of Othello, a few questions about himself, the play, and his dream vacation...
Picture
What’s the best line in the play?
“Tis here but yet confused” it explains the play a great deal.

Shakespeare BASH'd is known for their love of karaoke. What's your go-to karaoke song?
It’s hard to say, but I would think I’m going to end up in a duet with Julia (my wife and Co-Artistic Director) singing Fergalicious. But I do like challenging myself whenever I go to karaoke.

Everyone refers to Iago as 'honest.' What attribute do people sometimes falsely give to you?
I would say that most people think I’m really patient, or maybe they don’t. I need to know now!!!

Othello takes place on the island of Cyprus. What's your dream sunny vacation spot?
Probably something in Greece, or Italy. But frankly, I’d love a nice trip to London or Paris in the fall.

What is your post-show drink of choice?
The featured IPA on tap.

What have you done with Shakespeare BASH'd before?
I’m one of the founders of Shakespeare BASH’d and I’ve been a part of every one of the company’s productions. This one is special because I think, as a director, it’s one of the most difficult plays I’ve worked on. It’s full, distinct, and beautiful. Plus, it’s really terrifying, so that’s always a tough thing.

What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
For the audience to see these great actors and this great play. It’s one of a kind.
