Company Interviews: Jonny Thompson as Audrey
We asked Jonny Thompson, who plays Audrey and Charles the Wrestler in our production of As You Like It, a few questions about himself, his characters, and writing career...
What might people be interested to know about your take on your character?
Audrey has been a fascinating experience as a male character. I'm excited to get him out on stage in front of the audience because I think the reversal of the traditional male/female roles will be fun for others to watch.
What is your favourite forest or type of forest?
I got the opportunity to hike at Yosemite National Park and I have to say that was pretty awesome.
If your character were at the Junction City Music Hall, what drink would they order?
Charles - Burbon. Audrey - a Pilsner or Pale Ale
Did you ever write love poetry?
Once, and it was published in a book. I was young, it was about a girl and it was bad.
What have you done with Shakespeare BASH'd before? What's unique about working on this production?
This is my first time working with Shakespeare BASH'd and my first show back on stage (speaking) in 5 years, so honestly their commitment to making me feel comfortable on stage has been great for me.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
The musicians have been rocking out for the past 5 months in my apartment and I think people are going to really dig what they are bringing to the table. Combined with the amazing actors on stage I think minds will be blown.
