Company Interviews: Hilary Adams as Lord, Wilma, Hymen
We asked Hilary Adams, who plays Lord, Wilma, Hymen, and is the Co-Composer in our production of As You Like It, a few questions about herself, the show, and music...
Have you been in a production of As You Like It before?
I have been in two other productions of As You Like It. My first was at Two Planks and a Passion in Canning. It was an outdoor production where I played a forester and Pheobe in the woods of Nova Scotia. My second production was with Shakespeare By The Sea in Halifax where I played Celia for the summer season with the very talented Jade Douris and Catherine Rainville. During both experiences, I was lucky enough to be with incredibly kind and generous performers and make life long friends. I have loved every production and they have all been so different, and I really can't wait to show this version with everyone!
What is your favourite forest?
Minden Hills is one of my favourite places. It is a very calming lake area just north-east of Toronto. I grew up spending my summers in the woods hiking, swimming at the lake, catching frogs, jumping in the mud and exploring. It was the best, and still holds a very special place in my heart.
Did you ever write love poetry?
I write love songs and I would sometimes consider them poetry...sometimes a dark comedy...I have only really started to think of my songs as poetry. I often show my mom my songs and she is consistently telling me that I'm a poet - THANKS, MOM.
What is your post-show drink of choice?
Beer. Always beer.
If you could see one band/musician at any time in the past, present, or future, who would that be?
This is probably one of the hardest questions and I'm not sure how to answer it, there are SO many people and groups that I would have liked to see. but I would probably say, Fleetwood Mac. I love Stevie Knicks and Rumours is one of my favourite albums of all time.
What are you most excited for people to see in this production?
Everything. Watching this process unfold has been so rewarding and exciting. I have loved co-composing with Kaleb and seeing everyone join into the songs and see what joy it brings. We have all together created a world of love and I am just so excited for people to come and enjoy and join in.
